Hello Fellow FWT Members!

“When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world” George Washington Carver

We all do three very common things. We swim, we bike, and we run.  It can be agreed that none of us do them in a common way. The things that we combine for our sport are some of the most common things in the world.  I think we would be hard pressed to find someone who has not done all the three at some point in their life.  Most people can swim, if only a little and to keep from drowning.  The bicycle is the most common form of transportation on the planet.  Running is really just fast walking.

Three simple things that we all do in an uncommon way.  That is what sets our community of athletes apart.   This is the tie that binds us all as triatletes.  We strive to do the common with a speed, efficiency and distance that commands the attention of those around us.  Every community has its own special feel and characteristics.  Us doing the common in an uncommon way is what sets us apart.

A community of athletes is what I see this club as.  Some of us the elders who are passing on their knowledge to the younger members.  The enthusiastic youth who shows potential for greatness outside of the local region and on a larger scale.  Others are recreational participants who are keeping their youth alive and slowing the aging process by leading a healthier lifestyle.

This community can grow indefinitely, and we encourage people to join it.  I see us not as an elitist group but inviting to all that show interest in hope they will join us.  Everyone can have a place among us, from the fastest at the races to the slowest on the group ride.  There is room for all in this community of the uncommon, and we will cheer all who join at the finish of every race.

It is an honor and privilege to be the president of this community.  I thank you all for your support and placing your trust in me.  I thank my wife, Robin, for her support and understanding of my uncommon lifestyle.  I strive to prove myself worthy of being called the president of what I believe to be the best community of athletes in the valley. I congratulate each of you on your choice to do the common in an uncommon way
